Like many of you, that was the headline that greeted me as I opened the front page of my Sunday paper. As I read further into the article, it mentioned Kansas customers have seen increases of about 55 percent since 2007. It also mentioned that customers using 1,500 kilowatts per month have seen their monthly bills rise from $116.18 in 2007 to $179.66 in 2011.
Now, more than ever consumers are concerned with energy efficiency and conservation. Our daily lives have changed from the “old days” when our major household electrical consumption was from TV’s, refrigerators, fans, and of course the lights. Back then the major conservation program was Dad yelling “WHO THE #!*+&$ IS LEAVING THE LIGHTS ON!!” Today we have computers, video games, cell phone chargers, etc….. It seems like everything in our home uses electricity.
