Old Furnace Contest Winner

Congratulations to Diane Gray, the winner of Santa Fe Air’s Old Furnace Contest!
Diane’s home is 110 years old. She returned there in 1991, to help her aging mother, and has lived there ever since. The furnace was installed in the early 1940’s, and had asbestos wrapped joints on the duct work. It has been a very dependable furnace, but only about 40% efficient. This meant that 60 cents of every dollar Diane spent for natural gas, was going out the flue in exhaust gas and only 40 cents was going towards the heat. She said that her 2011 March gas bill was $400!!

This project was a major undertaking. Because of the asbestos, we hired New Horizons, LLC, to safely remove all the duct work and the Luxaire furnace. Many thanks to Scott and his team for doing a great job! We designed and installed a new duct system, and a York TM9X furnace that will greatly improve the air flow in the house, as well as the comfort level.
Diane is retired from KU Medical Center. This has been a major renovation for her home, she was willing to take it on, not only for energy efficiency, but to preserve the history and integrity of her family home. The 60% savings on her heating bills will be great for the environment and her pocket book!
We want to thank Diane Gray and everyone else that participated in our contest this year! It was a lot of fun for us and we met some great people.
